Legend of Beauty II
Legend of Beauty II [48 x 64 in Chinese ink and color on rice paper]
Gu Ying Qing was born in 1959, China and graduated from China Academy of Fine Arts with B.A. degree on Chinese painting in 1988. Now he works as a professor of Chinese painting in China. He tried to transform realistic ink painting into something new by combining western modern art with Chinese ink painting.
It is obvious that he was influenced by Matisse, Gaughin, and Modigliani. He manipulated his paintings by mixing oil pastel, wax, pigments colors, making them look thicker, modern and colorful. He is one of the pioneer in Chinese modern ink painting.
